Triple-A Magicians Kept the Suspense to Last Minute

Triple-A summer tennis ended with a Magician House round robin. All players were sorted into each of the four Harry Potter houses – Gryffindor, Huffepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Players were then coded by age and level into color groups within which they competed against other houses.

In this full day tournament, all players displayed tremendous passion and devotion into the matches. Many matches were pushed into tie-breaker, very rare for beginners.

Even so the first matches started at 9AM in the morning, by 16:40 there were still two matches in play. At this point Hufflepuff accumulated 10 points while Slytherin 11. Hufflepuff soon tied with Slytherin with a doubles’ win. The only match still playing was a U10 singles between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Slytherin would win the tournament by one point if it would win this match. If not, a tie-breaker would have to be played between Hufflepuff and Slytherin.

Time was running out, only 20 minutes left for the reservation. The two houses agreed not to wait for the result but to play a conditional tie-breaker to save the time. Only when the tie-breaker was about to be over did the U10 match result came out. Slytherin won by one point.

In her award speech, Ms Liu, the Director of Triple-A Tennis, congratulated all the players. She said even so only one team was awarded a medal, all players were winners. They won themselves through hard training the love of tennis, health and friendship.

Concentration

Parents were all satisfied with players’ match performance. So were the coaches. They were pleasantly surprised by the toughness and seriousness that players never showed in training.

The summer is over, but tennis has just started. During the pandemic time, Triple-A Tennis would bid the best wishes for all the coaches, the players and their families.
